Bruce Cockburn: 50 years of music, spirituality and social justice | SaltWireSYDNEY, N.S. — A Supreme Court trial for a Sydney man charged with murder began Monday but the Cape Breton Post, and other media outlets, are now prohibited from reporting on the testimony.

Also charged with first-degree murder is Jessica Anne MacDonald, 37, whose Supreme Court jury trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 29, 2024. Mancini contends that his client’s potential jury pool will be tainted by media coverage of the Evong trial. Gogan imposed an interim publication ban and scheduled a full hearing on the issue for Oct. 25. She gave the Crown until Oct. 24 to formally let the court know its position.
