A highly anticipated report on foreign election interference says a public inquiry into allegations that China attempted to influence federal votes in 2019 and 2021 wouldn’t be helpful because of limits on access to important confidential information.“Any credible public inquiry would not be public at all,” he told reporters at a press conference following the release of the report, adding that an inquiry would hit the same roadblocks his team had when trying to access sensitive information.
