“The objective has to be the most inclusive city in the world, the most respectful city in the world, the city that has shown that it is going to push back at this kind of hatred and discrimination and polarization anytime it shows itself,” Tory said Tuesday. The Toronto Police Service Hate Crime Unit says anti-Semitism has been the most reported hate crime for more than five years in a row, and its impact is experienced daily by Jewish Torontonians.
The public education campaign urges residents to become educated about anti-Semitism and the diversity of the Jewish community, to speak up when they see bias and hate, and to reach out and support victims.
