Public Service Alliance of Canada National President Chris Aylward speaks during a news conference at union headquarters, Monday, April 17, 2023 in Ottawa.
More than 150,000 public servants could walk off the job on Wednesday if a new deal isn’t reached with the federal government. The Public Service Alliance of Canada, which represents the employees, said it was giving the federal government until 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday to reach a deal to avert a strike, which would rank among the largest in Canadian history.
“Despite some progress at the bargaining table, our members are frustrated that while negotiations drag on, they continue to fall behind,” PSAC president Chris Aylward said Monday at a press conference in Ottawa.
