The province will be moving forward with reviews of six regional governments, including Durham, but the way they are conducting them will be a bit different.
The reviews were initially announced by former Housing and Municipal Affairs Minister Steve Clark who said regional facilitators would be named by September 11.On Wednesday, he said in a statement that he had asked a legislative committee to instead conduct that review. He noted committees can carry out work in a “public, open and accountable” manner.
He says the study should examine whether two-tier governments in those regions support or hinder the construction of new homes and whether certain services could be combined or moved from one level of government to another.
