A no camping sign greets visitors to the Sand Hills Beach Provincial Park in Villagedale. The Municipality of Barrington is requesting the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Renewables to consider the possibility of introducing camping facilities at the park.

Designated a provincial park on April 7, 1976, Sand Hills Beach Provincial Park is 94.61 hectares. It features a 2.5 km white-sand beach and is a popular bird-watching area. There is a large parking lot; a large grassed picnic area with tables; benches; trails, washrooms; and change facilities on site.

“With camping facilities available, Sand Hills Beach Provincial Park could become a year-round destination catering to travelers beyond the peak summer season and diversifying tourism in the region,” he says.The municipality is asking the department to consider investigating the feasibility of introducing camping facilities at Sand Hills Provincial Park.
