His journey began as a way to heal from deep depression. Volunteering at an animal shelter transformed his life, leading him to dedicate his existence to rescuing animals. Now, Marcio is pursuing veterinary medicine at Ulbra University, one of Brazil's premier institutions, to further his ability to help animals and vulnerable communities.
He believes that his life experience combined with veterinary knowledge will inspire other professionals to engage more deeply in animal welfare. Marcio's compassion extends beyond animals. He recognizes the interconnectedness of all living beings and actively assists those in need, stating, 'The animals we assist are usually in poor regions. You cannot bring a bowl of food for the animals and ignore the children who are also hungry.' He acknowledges the financial challenges of his work, stating, 'The costs are indeed very high. Due to high taxes in Brazil, food and medical supplies become very expensive.' Despite these obstacles, Marcio remains steadfast in his mission, spreading a message of compassion and action. He inspires others to contribute, no matter how small, emphasizing the collective power to make a difference. 'Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible,' he says, quoting Saint Francis of Assisi. 'What I do is a drop in the ocean. But without it, the ocean would be smaller,' he adds, echoing Mother Teresa of Calcutta's words. Marcio's story is a testament to the profound impact one individual can have.
