A former prominent Vancouver stock promoter, Avtar Singh Dhillon, received a four-month jail sentence and one year of supervised release for securities fraud involving concealed share ownership and undisclosed touting compensation.

A former prominent Vancouver stock promoter, Avtar Singh Dhillon , has been sentenced to four months in jail and one year of supervised release for securities fraud . In a federal court in Boston, Judge Allison D. Burroughs handed down the sentence. Dhillon admitted to wilful failure to disclose stock sales, aiding and abetting the sale of unregistered securities, and conspiracy to not disclose touting compensation. Involving two biotech companies, Arch Therapeutics and OncoSec Medical Inc.

, Dhillon and his lawyer, Daniel Martinez, concealed ownership of shares worth $2.1 million, with Dhillon profiting $1.5 million. Dhillon was ordered to repay $1.5 million and faced additional charges for promoting Emerald Health Pharmaceuticals under a consulting agreement
