Youth hockey and economic opportunity are among the factors the Professional Women's Hockey League ( PWHL ) is considering when evaluating potential sites for expansion. The league could add two teams as soon as next season. Since opening to expansion proposals a short time ago, the PWHL has received more than 25 proposals from interested markets, according to the league's senior vice president of business operations, Amy Scheer.
Scheer mentioned that the PWHL is currently in the process of issuing requests for proposals, both for targeted markets and others expressing interest in having a team. She emphasized the importance of understanding each market thoroughly before deciding on expansion. The PWHL will host its second season opener on Saturday with the Toronto Sceptres facing the Boston Fleet, which will be available via live stream on CBCSports.ca, CBC Gem, and CBC Sports App
