Pro-life baby doctors today are taking the unusual move to correct unchallenged claims in the media that the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobb decision will undermine pregnancy care and lead to a surge in deaths.
The 7,000-member American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists -- AAPLOG -- told Secrets that it is launching a campaign “to correct the record” in liberal media warning of a medical disaster in the wake of the court’s overturning of the 1973 Roe vs Wade case.
“Today AAPLOG is launching a new campaign to address misinformation with facts using these tools. This is all part of our mission to empower women with information so they can make fully informed healthcare decisions and empower you with the evidence you need to defend your practice of life-affirming medicine,” it said in a memo to members shared with Secrets.by doing so we’ll help provide both our patients the best healthcare possible,” it added.
In point, counterpoint fashion, the group addressed media disinformation. For example, the group cited an NPR claim that “Some abortions are necessary to save the life of a patient.” The OB/GYNs said, however, “Elective abortion is not lifesaving medical care. OB/GYNs will still be able to offer lifesaving medical care to pregnant women. No laws on elective abortion will impact that.”
