Princess Eugenie has welcomed a second child with husband Jack Brooksbank.

last week. “Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their son, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank,” the statement read. “Ernest was born on Tuesday, 30th May, and weighed 7lbs 1oz.”On her Instagram account, Eugenie shared a photo of the new addition to her family, along with an image that shows him bonding with his 2-year-old brother,She also shared details about his name.
It’s unclear if Eugenie is referring to King George V, who died in 1936 and would technically be Ernest’s great-great-great grandfather, or his son King George VI, who died in 1952, and would be Ernest’s great-great grandfather. The name is also an homage to Jack’s father, George Brooksbank, who died in 2021, and’s father Ronald, who served as a polo manager to the royal family in the 1970s and 1980s.
As for Ernest, there doesn’t seem to be an immediate family connection to the name, but there are a few historical relatives of the royals that might have served as inspiration, including Ernest Augustus, a son of George III who eventually became the Duke of Cumberland and King of Hanover, and Duke Ernest of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, the brother of Queen Victoria’s consort, Prince Albert.
