Prince William and Princess Kate resumed their royal duties to check in with local mental health organizations in North Yorkshire.
. But on Thursday, the Prince and Princess of Wales returned to their typical obligations, visiting Scarborough, a seaside resort town in North Yorkshire, to check in with local organizations that will be receiving £345,000 worth of funding generated by the collaboration between The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Two Ridings Community Foundation.
For the visit, Kate wore a monochromatic tan outfit, while William opted for a navy blue suit and burgundy sweater, both accessorized with red poppy pins to commemorate veterans. The poppy has been used to symbolize military members who died in war since 1921 and is traditionally worn by those in the UK and Commonwealth countries on Remembrance Day on November 11.
William and Kate's first stop on their trip was a visit to The Street, a community hub that hosts local organizations to help grow and develop their services. There, they met with some of the young people who have received help from these local mental health support groups in order to better understand how the donations they've raised might be put to better use.
And in a speech delivered at The Street, Prince William added, “For Cathrine and I, the legacy of today, bringing people together and collaborating, showing what can be done when a community helps together collaboratively is something we'd like to follow on and I hope can be represented more widely across the country.”
