Gary Janetti is transforming his popular Instagram account into a series for HBO Max
HBO Max describes the forthcoming series as a “biting, satirical look at the life of Prince George of Cambridge, the youngest heir to the British throne, as he navigates the trials and tribulations of being a royal child.” It’s the second project Janetti has set up at HBO Max, following“I’m thrilled to be working at HBO Max and bringing them yet another series about a family ruthlessly fighting for the throne,” said Janetti in a press release.
Janetti began posting Prince George memes on his account back in September 2017, when Prince George was photographed on his first day of school.last year. “I posted one with a caption, without giving it much thought. I did a few more and slowly developed a character for him. Then, when Meghan Markle got engaged to Harry and she was everywhere in the news, I had formed enough of a character for George that I knew, ‘Oh, [Prince George] is not going to like this.
In the years since, Janetti’s Instagram page has become a full-time Prince George meme generator. Even so, the television veteran previously toldan expansion of its reach was not in the cards. “Social media is so democratic. I do what I want to do, and there’s nothing that stands between me and my audience,” Janetti said. “If I think of this as producing a little TV show, I’m controlling how many episodes go out. I’m controlling the arc of the season, when it ends.
