The Prince of Wales has apparently told people he doesn’t want the nation to go back to ‘bickering’ when the Jubilee is over.
He and wife Camilla mingled with 450 other guests at a lunch in the Oval cricket ground today, one of thousands of picnics and street parties held to celebrate the occasion.Sarah Friar, CEO of neighbourhood app Nextdoor, sat opposite him at her table.
‘We see it with neighbours, right? I’m from a company called Nextdoor, so people coming together with the best coming out.Saturday night’s concert at Buckingham Palace came up in conversation too, with Ms Friar saying Charles described it as ‘marvellous’. “He said ‘I’m sorry to keep you from your lunch’. I said ‘No worries, I had my marmalade sandwich’,” she said.Singer Elaine Paige, ambassador for the Royal Voluntary Service, met Charles and Camilla at the lunch.
