Virginia Giuffre, who previously accused the late disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein of sexual abuse, sued Prince Andrew in federal court in New York, saying Mr. Epstein and an associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, coerced her into having sex with the prince in the early 2000s. At the time, she was under 18 years old, the lawsuit says.
Under the Hague Convention, a treaty which governs how claims are served on parties who live in different legal jurisdictions, Ms. Giuffre’s lawyers can contact senior High Court officials who will relay the complaint, the court said. If U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan determines Prince Andrew has been notified, it allows the court battle to begin in the U.S.
