OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is heading to Washington, D.C., next week to take part in the NATO leaders' summit as a new survey shows most Canadians hold a favourable view of the military alliance.

Numbers NATO released last month show Canada is expected to spend 1.37 per cent of its gross domestic product on defence this year.A contingent of U.S. senators wrote to Trudeau earlier this year, calling on him to lay out a clear plan to get to the two per cent target.
