Shoppers will notice a big change when shopping in store
Primark has made a big change in its stores that could mean shoppers are stopped when leaving. The popular retailer has begun sealing its paper carrier bags with blue "sold" stickers to prevent shoplifters from stealing items.
This new measure is being tested in 18 stores. A worker at a branch in South East London told The Sun: "The thieves would put anything in which didn't have a tag and wouldn't set off an alarm. They could blend in with customers because you can only get bags from the checkouts. It was very hard for security guards to spot."A spokesperson from Primark said: "Anti-social behaviour and crime is rising and we're working with retailers and organisations to help tackle this.
The retailer has also confirmed that two more stores will open in Epsom, Surrey, and Newbury, Berkshire, from 2025 onwards.
