Preview: Former Calgarian comes full circle to star in Gaslight at Vertigo yyc
Immediately after graduating from Sheridan, Verzotti was cast in Life After, a new musical by Britta Johnson which, after several subsequent productions in the U.S., is now being prepped for a New York opening.
It’s the Shaw Festival version of the vintage thriller Gaslight, by Johanna Wright and Patty Jamieson, that has brought Verzotti back to her hometown. The original was written in 1938 by British playwright Patrick Hamilton and has been a staple of professional and community theatre ever since. In the original Gaslight, a detective named Rough helps Bella discover exactly what is happening in her home and why. But in this new Canadian version, Bella, with the help of her housekeeper Elizabeth, triumphs over the evil in that house on Angel Street.
