Cal Fire plans a prescribed burn near the mouth of the Russian River on the Sonoma County coast on Saturday.

The two-acre controlled vegetation management fire is planned to begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday near Jenner, part of the Magic Mountain Shaded Fuel Break, Cal Fire said Friday.The CZU fire burned 911 homes. A huge new project aims to reduce the risk of the next one.

A tour from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo will be on hand to learn about forest health and fire resiliency, the agency said.
