Liberal MLA Peter Milobar, whose riding of Kamloops-North Thompson includes Barriere, urged the premier to “talk to the families that are losing loved ones waiting for paramedics to arrive in Ashcroft and Barriere and other areas.” Their experiences show that government dollars spent on the ambulance service isn’t translating to more ambulances on the ground, he said.Article content
She said this incident “needs to be a wake-up call” for Health Minister Adrian Dix and the NDP government that the shortages plaguing every aspect of the health-care system need to be immediately addressed. The union representing B.C. paramedics said there were delays in responding because the ambulance was in Kamloops when the call came in.
