A test of Alberta’s emergency alert system was scheduled for 1:55 p.m. Wednesday. The Alberta Emergency Alert website lists seven test alerts being sent out at that time, with two additional alerts sent minutes later at 2:01 p.m.
“While Public Safety Canada provides national leadership, coordination and guidance, provincial and territorial governments decide when and where alerts and warnings should be issued to the public through the lone system known as Alert Ready,” the statement read. “All partners in the National Public Alerting System are working with the Alberta Public Alerting team to identify and resolve the issue that caused these repeat alerts,” Ellis said.
