Nashville parted ways with former head coach Peter Laviolette on Monday. In 5 1/2 seasons under Laviolette, the Predators went 248-143-60, reaching the playoffs each of his first five seasons. Hynes most recently served as head coach of the New Jersey Devils, compiling a 150-159-45 record across parts of five seasons. He will become the third coach in Predators franchise history.
“John Hynes is bright young coach and great leader who has a track record of both effectively developing young players and successfully motivating veterans,” Predators president of hockey operations and general manager David Poile said in a press release. “We love his coaching resume and are confident that he has learned from every stop during his career, and has the best skill set to get the maximum potential out of our team.”
