A pre\u002Dtrial conference for Surrey Mayor Doug McCallum in his mischief case is not open to the public, according to the provincial court.
McCallum’s case is on the court’s docket for Monday at 11:45 a.m. before a judge in the Prince George registry for a proceeding that is expected to be held virtually.
But on Friday, after inquiries from Postmedia, the office of the Chief Judge Melissa Gillespie said in an email that Monday’s proceedings were confidential and would not be open to the media or the public.Article content At the pre-trial conferences, the judge will “proactively” canvas resolution with the parties in order to avoid setting trial dates and/or proactively canvass the issues to reduce them to only those requiring adjudication, says the email.
