Greater Sudbury Hydro is reporting a transformer fire and issue with underground cable as the cause of a power outage currently affecting 1100 hydro customers in the area.
Approximately one hour ago, GSU became aware of a power outage in the Atlee Avenue area of New Sudbury. Greater Sudbury Fire Services were then called to the scene of a transformer fire on Barrydowne Road. GSU is reporting that they are “isolating and underground cable that is causing the issue,’ and that while there is no estimated time of restoration, they stated it would be “up and running shortly.
