Forget the fat paycheque — Canadians say they'd rather their jobs have meaning — via financialpost
Canadians don’t want to work at a job they deem frustrating or meaningless, even if it means taking home a higher paycheque, new research suggests.
Higher salaries also no longer appear to be the carrot they once were. People don’t want to waste their time on “unrewarding” work, and 71 per cent said they’d refuse such a job, even if it came with a wage hike. “Canadian office workers want to know they are experiencing continuous personal and professional growth at work,” Marc LeCuyer, vice president and general manger of ServiceNow said, in a press release. “Employers have to find ways to reduce the low value work.”
