Portia de Rossi tells Ellen, 'I just want you to do something that makes you really happy' ... as show draws to a close
'So I hope that you continue to do something like that, like stand-up for example ... I don’t really have an opinion, but stand-up would be good.'
In the episode, DeGeneres reminisced about how the couple's relationship has spanned the course of the series, as they began dating in 2004 'You came into my life on the second season of this show, we’ve been together for 17 years,' Ellen said. 'So with the show ending, you know, it’s actually a big thing for both of us ... because you watched me go through everything with the show, but I learned today, which I didn’t know, there’s a story of [you] watching me the first show the first season.
'I think what’s amazing too, is that since we’ve been together, many things have changed - you came out by just being with me, that was your outing,' she said. 'Your story of telling your grandmother that you were with me is a beautiful story.
'At this point, my mom was supposed to have told gram that I was with Ellen,' de Rossi said of her grandmother, who was '99 at this point.'
