A Portage County family caught several alleged thieves on their doorbell camera breaking into their home while they were at the county fair over the weekend.
PORTAGE COUNTY , Ohio -
Dan Dowling received several notifications early Saturday evening from his Ring camera system while his family was at the Portage County Fair.“Myself and my wife grew up showing at the fair every year in 4-H so it’s wonderful we get to pass that on to our children as well,” Dowling said. He initially didn’t think anything was out of the ordinary receiving notifications from his home security system.Dowling said it was actually thieves breaking into his house.
“From them walking up to the front door, knocking on the windows trying to see if anybody is home,” Dowling said. “Then they went around the back of the house same thing knocking on the windows and then to them prying on the door trying to open it.”Dowling has now put in additional security measures.
“I think they saw an empty driveway with a house that’s sitting back a little bit with not close neighbors,” Dowling said. “It was a crime of opportunity, in my opinion.”“For the most part, I feel like people are hardworking, you get what you earn and you don’t try and take extra on top of that,” Dowling said.
