After the Oct. 19 municipal election, Stuart was declared the sixth position on council with 3,595 votes, just two more than Lubik with 3,593. An application for a judicial recount was filed by Lubik on Oct. 24, according to the city. After the recount, a provincial court judge found each candidate received 3,597 votes.Presided over by the judge, “the name of each candidate was written on a separate piece of paper, folded in a uniform manner, and placed in a container large enough to allow them to be shaken,” according to the city.Article contentThis isn’t the first time municipal election candidates have been tied in B.C.
