The state Department of Transportation’s plan involves widening the bridge over the creek and raising the height of the nearby road to help alleviate flooding, officials previously said. “As part of any acquisition which includes a business, the owner is eligible for relocation expenses if they choose to relocate,” he said. “The owners of the diner chose to close rather than relocate.”
“As part of the project, the diner will be demolished in order to build a drainage basin and utility infrastructure,” said Schapiro. “The project is expected to begin before the end of the year.”
