Approval and disapproval of Justin Trudeau and Pierre Poilievre has remained broadly stable since the beginning of the year, other than Trudeau's disapproval numbers gradually rising, a series of online polls show.
A small majority of readers, 54 per cent, now say they strongly disapprove of the prime minister's performance. That's up from 48 per cent in January. Only 10 per cent see his performance very favourably. Poilievre, on the other hand, hasn't seen any real movement in his numbers this year. The largest group by far sees him very unfavourably, but his very favourable numbers are much stronger than Trudeau's.
When we mash up views of leaders with current federal voting intentions, the big picture is broadly what you would expect. However, it's worth noting the Conservative supporters who either have a somewhat unfavourable view of Poilievre, or are indifferent.It can't be a good sign for the Liberals that the two largest groups in 'indifferent' of 'somewhat unfavourable' for Trudeau, mashed up with 2015 voting, are those who voted Liberal in that election.
Notably, 25 per cent of those with a favourable view of Poilievre, and 11 per cent of a very favourable view, voted Liberal in 2015:
