over Republican rival Lee Zeldin despite a plurality of New York voters saying they have an unfavorable view of the Democratic incumbent ahead of the Nov. 8 election.
Just 36% of respondents had a positive opinion of Hochul, compared to 41% unfavorable – but she had a 54% to 39% lead over Zeldin, according to data compiled by Public Policy Polling on behalf of her political allies.in two GOP-friendly surveys in recent weeks, with others showing her lead in the double digits amid big advantages with fundraising and 2-to-1 Democratic voter enrollment in the state.
A total of 7% of voters in the new poll remain undecided. It has a margin of error of +/- 4.3% and was conducted Sept. 8-9.Republican and Conservative Parties nominee for New York Governor Lee Zeldin is facing a tough race against his opponent.Zeldin also appears to have more opportunity than Hochul to still make the case for himself with voters, with 36% of them saying they are unsure of their attitude towards him compared to 23% for Hochul.
Representatives of the Zeldin and Hochul campaigns did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the poll. “Our poll confirms what anyone paying attention already knows; Governor Hochul is delivering for hardworking New Yorkers, and the Governor is in a strong position for victory in November,” New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento said in a press release.
