In 2013, John Fetterman chased and detained at gunpoint a Black man he wrongly thought fired gunshots near his home. The man was unarmed, released at the scene and not charged with a crime.
The news reports did not suggest that the incident was racial profiling.Fetterman said he was outside his home when he heard what sounded like a dozen rounds of assault-rifle gunfire.
Fetterman said he told Miyares they would wait there"and we’re going to get this all sorted out when the police arrive." When officers arrived on the scene, two people told them they heard what they thought were several gunshots. Then officers heard Fetterman call out to them. His truck was parked in the middle of the street and he was holding a shotgun with Miyares standing near him.
