A Polish woman went viral on social media after posting that she may be Madeleine McCann, the missing British girl whose name was plastered on headlines across the world after her disappearance in 2007.

Julia Wendell, whose Instagram post spread like wildfire soon after she published it, says her features are strikingly similar to those of McCann’s and detailed a rocky upbringing with gaps her parents are unwilling to explain.Julia Wendell, 21, created an Instagram account titled @iammadeleinemccann to plead her case and ask for help to connect with Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine’s parents who haven’t given up hope their daughter is alive.

She also appears to share the same rare eye disorder as McCann’s, a coloboma abnormality, which was highlighted by investigators after McCann’s disappearance to help identify her. Wendell says hers has faded over time. Wendell also alleges to recognize a police sketch of a potential suspect, claiming him to look similar to her abuser.

Besides sharing photos she believes to show she looks similar to the missing girl, Wendell claims her family members haven’t been truthful about her upbringing and won’t take a DNA test to prove their relation to her. She also says she doesn’t have many memories of her childhood, but points to a memory of her on a white-sand beach when she was younger.
