A man is in custody after Durham police say they found a loaded gun in his vehicle. Police stopped a suspected impaired driver around 3 a.m. Monday on Simcoe

Police stopped a suspected impaired driver around 3 a.m. Monday on Simcoe Street near Whitfield Road, north of Port Perry.After the arrest, they searched the vehicle and found a loaded modified Uzi sub machine gun with a high capacity magazine and seized it.

Brock Tate, 32, of Pickering is charged with operation while impaired, obstruct peace officer, driving while under suspension, occupy motor vehicle with firearm, possess loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, possess restricted/prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, possession of a prohibited device, and possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm knowing its possession is prohibited/restricted.Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Cst.
