Toronto police are seeking suspects after a jewelry store in a shopping mall was robbed by people with hammers on Monday afternoon.Posted: Dec 16, 2024 5:53 PM EST | Last Updated: 2 hours ago
Police said officers were called to the scene at Fairview Mall at 1:20 p.m. The thieves used hammers to break the glass, police said, and several people in dark clothing were seen fleeing the scene. Some of the occupants fled the scene of the crash, police said, while at least one of the drivers remained on scene. Police said that driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
As of last week, 43 jewelry store robberies had been reported so far this year, compared to 21 during the same time period last year.
