Just after 10 p.m., Garland police tried to stop a Tahoe they believe was involved in string of robberies, according to a department news release, adding at least one occupant of the vehicle was known to be armed during the burglaries and was considered dangerous.The driver “failed to maintain control of the vehicle, overcorrecting, causing the vehicle to overturn,” in the 12200 block of Greenville Avenue, the release said.
Three of the five occupants were taken to the hospital with injuries, according to police. One of the three who has not been publicly identified later died, according to police.The driver of the vehicle, Joey William Jarvis, was arrested and faces charges of evading arrest and detention causing serious bodily injuries and engaging in organized criminal activity, police said.The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
