Police named and released a photo of the suspect in a crash at a Texas migrant center that killed eight and wounded several others.
George Alvarez, 34, was arrested and charged with eight counts of manslaughter after his SUV plowed through a group of people outside of Bishop Enrique San Pedro Ozanam Center, a shelter for immigrants and the homeless. Eight people were killed and 10 were critically injured, police said Monday.Brownsville Police revealed the identity of Alvarez in a press conference, along with new details about the crash.
"Through the investigation, it was found that the SUV ran a red light, lost control, flipped on its side, and struck a total of 18 individuals. It was further found that there were six fatalities on scene and 12 critically injured. From then to now, the fatalities have grown to eight," Brownsville Police Chief Felix Sauceda said.

A toxicology report is pending.
Sauceda said authorities had established contact and are cooperating with the Venezuelan government over the tragedy, as several of the immigrants killed were Venezuelan.
