Halifax Regional Police are looking for a suspect after a man walked into a residence in Halifax and started yelling racially offensive language at the occupant. He said the man followed the resident around the interior of the home yelling at him while the resident tried to keep away from him.
“Their intention was to try to keep distance while calling police, and they did, but for a short time the individual continued to stay within yelling distance.”There was no physical altercation, MacLeod said, and the resident did not know the intruder. Police consider the incident to be motivated by hate.
The suspect is described as white, approximately 5-foot-10 and weighing about 150 lbs. He had blonde hair and blonde beard and mustache. He was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants. MacLeod said it's not clear whether the man forced his way into the home or entered through an unlocked door, but the residents was already inside.“When you’re in your home, you’d expect to be safe and that someone won’t come in there, but it depends on your comfort level,” he said. “It certainly wouldn’t hurt when you’re there to keep it locked, but it depends on where is.”
