Police investigating after woman shot multiple times in Talmadge [Breaking]

Police are investigating after a woman was shot multiple times in San Diego’s Talmadge neighborhood Monday evening, police and sheriff’s officials said.

Lt. Adam Sharki, a spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department, called the situation a “deputy-involved shooting” but did not immediately provide further information. Under a countywide protocol, the city Police Department investigates when a county sheriff’s deputy shoots someone — and vice versa — so that no local law enforcement agencies investigate shootings involving their own personnel. The shooting was reported about 9 p.m. on Collwood Lane near Collwood Boulevard, said sheriff’s Lt. David Collins. Both San Diego police and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene.

The lieutenant confirmed there was a deputy at the scene of the shooting, but it was not immediately clear how that person was involved. This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
