Authorities have identified the Cache County couple found dead in their home Wednesday with gunshot wounds.
Deputies found 37-year-old Heather Preece deceased in a bedroom, and they found her husband Dustin Preece, 38, deceased elsewhere in the house in Hyrum, Sheriff D. Chad Jensen said in a news release.
"After meeting with the medical examiner and reviewing evidence, the sheriff's office has determined they believe that Dustin Preece shot his wife and then took his own life in an apparent murder-suicide," Jensen said in a statement later Thursday."This is a terrible incident that happened in our peaceful community, but especially for the 16-year-old daughter who discovered the scene.
