Crowds of concerned people frantically swarmed around the girl in the immediate aftermath trying to help
Police and an air ambulance scrambled to a busy main road in Oldham on Tuesday evening amid reports of a young girl being hit by a car. Abbey Hills Road was closed off between Warren Lane and Manor Road shortly after 6pm following the collision.
A black Mercedes with a slightly dented bonnet was pictured within the cordon, with brake tyre marks also seen on the road. Greater Manchester Police have not yet confirmed further details of the incident.A resident of Abbey Hills Road, who lived just feet away from where the incident happened on Tuesday, said the wide main road is 'dangerous', with many drivers often speeding over the limit, adding that she had to swerve out of the way of a child just a day before.
In the aftermath, an air ambulance also landed on a grassed area behind terraced homes on Abbey Hills Road. However, it is understood the victim was taken to hospital by road in an ambulance, after she was wheeled in on a stretcher. Another added: "It was so manic, there were so many people running around. It took the air ambulance quite a while before it landed, and she was taken away in an ambulance."
