He reiterated his claim that “everything feels broken” in Canada that earned him a rebuke from the prime minister in a speech last fall. “If you’re not responsible for any of these things. If you can’t do anything about it, then why don’t you get out of the way and let someone lead who can,” he added, earning himself a standing ovation from his caucus.
But he stopped short of saying how he would do any of that, nor what he would do to cap spending or what “waste” he was referring to that needed to end. “Our universal public system has long been a model to the world and Canadians rightly take enormous pride in it. But what Canadians are experiencing right now is simply not living up to that promise. And we’re going to change that,” he promised.Article content
“When you twist the facts or make things up for political gain, that’s not responsible leadership. Recent studies show the misinformation on COVID has cost hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of lives. Peddling misinformation and disinformation is serious, and devastating consequences,” he said of the Conservative leader.
