With Donald Trump set to assume the U.S. presidency on Jan. 20, 2025, and Canada facing the threat of 25-per-cent tariffs on all goods exported south of the border, the Prime Minister’s Office is considering re-establishing its 'war room' to monitor and co-ordinate strategy on Canada-U.S. relations, according to a senior government source. Faced with potential job losses and billions of dollars in trade at stake, managing Canada-U.S.
However, the remark resurfaced last week when Trump repeated it in a post on Truth Social, adding a new layer of tension to the ongoing trade discussions. “It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada,” Trump wrote on Dec. 10.
