The newspaper alleged that Mr Johnson was told of specific claims Mr Pincher had made unwanted advances towards a fellow Tory MP. When Mr Pincher was rebuffed by the MP, it is alleged, he contacted the man’s wife with unfounded sexual allegations about the MP as an act of revenge., told aides in 2020: “He’s handsy, that’s a problem. Pincher by name, pincher by nature.” In 2019, when he was running for leader, Mr Johnson allegedly said he had the “support of all the sex pests” in the party.
Asked what the PM knew about the multiple allegations in February, Work and Pensions Secretary Ms Coffey told Sky News’Repeatedly pressed about Mr Johnson’s knowledge of matters before the appointment of Mr Pincher as deputy chief whip, the Cabinet minister said: “I’ve just said I’m not involved in any of those direct conversations.”that “to the best of my knowledge” the PM had not been aware of “specific allegations” about the MP for Tamworth.
