Some areas of frost around the D.C. region are possibly Sunday night and maybe Monday night, but Monday’s highs in the mid-60s are the beginning of a warming trend.
We are near or at the high temperatures of the day with mid-50s the most typical. Warmest readings are generally around and inside the Beltway. Other than a few raindrops east and south of Fredericksburg, we remained dry. A bit of sun may be possible before sunset, but let’s not hold our breath. Patchy frost is possible tonight, but it will be sunnier and warmer tomorrow.
Patchy frost is possible, mainly in low-lying areas near and west of Interstate 95. Bring in those sensitive plants, which I hope you kept in movable pots per my advice! Skies should trend clearer with time, but perhaps not in steady fashion. Light breezes from the northwest will slowly die down as temperatures before sunrise bottom out in the mid-30s to around 40 degrees.
The current drought status in our greater region remains clear. A slight expansion in first-level drought was seen in North Carolina since last week, but nowhere else: Looking ahead, I found above-average levels of precipitation next week through the next month. This is reflected in the current drought outlook for the next month that keeps us in the clear:
