The Premier League has revealed its shortlist for their Player of the Season, with fans and club captains set to decide a winner.
Liverpool and Manchester City have dominated in recent years, with Ruben Dias of City winning last year and Kevin De Bruyne before that.De Bruyne is on this year’s shortlist again as is 2018 winner Mohamed Salah and Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander Arnold. Arsenal academy graduate Bukayo Saka is on the list, along with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, James Ward-Prowse of Southampton and Man City defender Joao Cancelo.While the battle for the goal award is the talk of fans at the minute, attackers are not guaranteed to run away with the gong.
Dias won it last season, while Virgil van Dijk claimed it in 2019, with N’Golo Kante winning in 2017. The public’s choice represents 10 per cent of the total votes and will be combined with those of a panel featuring journalists and former players, along with all 20 Premier League club captains.
