While this may seem easy given Canada’s size and uninhabited areas, the Montreal Pledge will be more difficult for cities such as Ottawa that have competing challenges and fewer financial envelopes with which to meet them .

It will ensure we are generating new cash flows, reducing health expenditures and transport costs by promoting locally grown produce, creating new jobs, and bolstering municipal revenues.Article content It is our hope that city council can be convinced to pass a motion so that Ottawa can join the Montreal Pledge.
As this new term of council is settling in, we look forward to promoting the protection of biodiversity as part of the city’sand working with our local community associations, schools and city staff to promote simple acts such as gardening and tree-planting so everyone can contribute and benefit.
