It's going to be huge 🍹

A bar in a hidden city centre street has revealed plans for expansion. Tropichol Tiki Bar in Hurts Yardwants to combine with a neighbouring property, with its application validated by Nottingham City Council on July 12.

The plan is to combine both 1 and 2 Hurts Yard into one larger unit by knocking through the walls. A planning document has said the plan would be to knock through internal walls on both floors, a door archway on the ground floor and the upper floor. The two buildings currently have different uses but the owners want to combine them, serve alcohol in both units and keep the ability to serve food. Tropichol's spot was previously operated by A Whisky Affair, which specialised in top-quality whiskies and cocktails. The bar opened in October 2019 but closed in March 2020 on Prime Minister Boris Johnson's lockdown orders and never reopened. Landlords then served a notice of abandonment to the bar for non-payment of rent.

The application was submitted by Mark Allsop. The planning application is pending consideration by Nottingham City Council.
