The Weeks Jr. A Crushers held short but intense scrimmages as part of the training camp at the Wellness Centre. The Crushers play host to the Summerside Western Capitals tonight.MOUNT WILLIAM, N.S. — The Weeks Jr. A Crushers training camp has been short and intense and head coach Garrett Lambke likes what he sees.
“We’re really happy with how our young guys came in, in preparation for our camp, off-ice and on-ice,” he said from the Crushers' dressing room at the Pictou County Wellness Centre. “They really took the big step that we were hopeful for, but they’ve solidified it with their play and their conditioning.”"We appreciate the work the boys are putting in and they’re making some decisions really tough on us.
Bryson Boudreau and Nick Mahar are both injured and will miss some time to start the season, he said.“We’re really hoping to see a tandem form there and we’re happy with how both look in camp,” coach Lambke said.“If anyone was around last year, they know that we trailed a lot of games. But it’s an absolutely resilient group, that whole core is back. We’re going to be an exciting young group up front with an older back end, but some young guys that we’re really excited about.
The Crushers host the Summerside Western Capitals tonight at 7 p.m. at the Wellness Centre and then travel to Amherst on Friday to face the Ramblers.
