Pictou County council sets election dates for municipal election

set polling dates during its April 15 finance and property meeting. Polls will be open from midnight on Oct. 6 until 7 p.m. on Oct. 19. They will be conducted online and hosted by Intellivote systems.Coun. Darla MacKiel, the chair of the financial services meeting, questioned why the advance polling date is necessary if voting is all online.

Coun. Peter Boyles expressed his opposition to electronic voting and voted against the election dates as a result. The motion approving the election dates and the electronic vendor passed with 11 votes in favour and only Boyles in opposition.
